An Qiyuan (; born 1933 in Lintong, Shaanxi) is a Chinese politician who served as CPC party chief in Shaanxi Province from December 1994 to August 1997. ==Biography== An Qiyuan, of Han ethnicity, was born in 1933 in Lintong, Shaanxi province. He joined the CPC in 1953, and graduated from the Geology Department of Northwest University (China) in 1956. He spent the formative years of his career in the mining industry in Shaanxi. Various positions he held within the mining sector included: *Leader, Petroleum Exploration Bureau Heilongjiang Province, Songliao (Geological Team) *Director, Daqing Oil Mine Heilongjiang Province, Daqing City *Chief, Daqing Oil Mine, 1st Oil Extracting Headquarters, Underground Operation Section Heilongjiang Province, Daqing City *Director, Ministry of Petroleum Industry, Petroleum Geophysical Prospecting Bureau *Deputy Director, China Seismological Bureau *Director, China Seismological Bureau 1988 marked his first foray into politics, when he was appointed as a member to the CPC Provincial Committee for Shaanxi Province. In 1998, An became Chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Committee.
